How To Repel Steam
// davisde // DIY Projects Tags: household, quick, steam, tips, tricks, windows 4 Responses
Believe it or not, shaving cream is an excellent way to prevent mirrors or windows from becoming fogged over. Just smear shaving cream over the window/mirror and wipe it off using a damp cloth. It should now prevent the window/mirror from becoming fogged over from steam. If it wears off, just repeat the process.

How To Convert VHS Tapes To DVD
// davisde // DIY Projects Tags: burn, convert, digital, dvd, guide, tips, tricks, tutorial, vhs, Video 2 Responses
This video covers the steps needed to convert a VHS video tape to DVD. You will need to purchase a video capture card in order to do this project.
-
Step 1: Items Needed
A VCR, a video capture card, a computer, free software from DVD Flick
-
Step 2: Where to get a video capture card
You can find video capture cards for pretty cheap online. My recommendation would be to search Amazon.com or Surplus Computers for the best deals. Once you have acquired a capture card, install it on your computer.
-
Step 3: Connect the VCR to the capture card
Using a regular co-axial cable, connect the VCR to the capture card in the same way you would connect it to a TV.
-
Step 4: Record the VHS tape to your computer.
Once you have everything connected, and your computer is turned back on, use the software that came with the video capture card to record the VHS tape from your VCR. Just put the tape in the VCR and play it as you would on a TV.
-
Step 5: Burn the video to DVD
Using the free software from DVD Flick , you can convert the video to a DVD image and burn it to a DVD. You can also add menus to the DVD using this program.
-
Step 6: Optional software
If you didn’t get any recording software that came with your capture card, you can download some free capture software from the internet. The first one is called Media Portal and the second one is called GB PVR
