In VMware workstation 7, you have the abilty to use VMware and convert the Windows XP VHD to a VMDK file, allowing you to have a XP VM without the need to install anything or have a key. Also new is Unity, which runs your guest OS applications on your desktop seamlessly. Here I will teach you how to setup and use these 2 new features from VMware
Requirements
1. Windows XP Mode installed
2. Activated version of VMware Workstation 7
3. Perferably 2 GB RAM if you are using Vista or 7, 1 GB RAM if you are running XP
4. 1.5 GB space on your hard drive
Steps
1. First, you will need to download Windows XP Mode, avaliable from Microsoft for free here http://www.microsoft.com/windo…..nload.aspx (I am pretty sure you can fake you have 7 ultimate) You DONT need the Windows Virtual PC download
2. Once you got that download, download VMware 7 http://www.vmware.com/products…..rkstation/ and while you are at that install Windows XP Mode
3. Once you got VMware downloaded install that as well
4. After VMware has finished downloading open VMware Workstation (NOT Player!) and go to File -> Imprt Windows XP Mode VM and follow all the steps

5. Once VMware has finished what it needs to do, you will see a new VM listed on the console like this

6. Power up the VM on you will get a desktop like this

7. Install VMware tools and reboot when prompted
8. Install all programs that you need to run in XP but dont work in 7 or Vista
9. Now in the top menu go to View -> and then click on Unity

10. When you get into Unity you can lauch different apps seamlessly on your desktop like this

NOTE: To luanch different apps move your mouse cursor over your host OS start menu and a mini start menu should come up like this with your XP Apps
