About The Program:

CamDesk is a desktop widget that is, yep you guess it displayed on your desktop. So if you want to be with your family, and play some nice activities online, yet watch yourself as well, or lets say you make video tutorials like me, and don't want to record your webcam, and the desktop simultaneously. You can display your webcam on your desktop, and simply just record your desktop, with CamDesk showing. However CamDesk doesn't display above other applications though.

System Requirements:

  • Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 – 32bit
  • 1.26MB of hard disk space
  • Webcam

Version 2.0 is now released, and includes fullscreen mode, hotkeys, opacity, dimensions, pinning, and properties, so you can change between another webcam you may have connected.

Dimensions Mode:

Well the default dimensions for camdesk is 320x240, you can now change it to 640x480, 352x288, 320x480, 176x144, and 160x140

Fullscreen Mode:

Now lets say CamDesk is running like it normally does, and you decide to put it in fullscreen mode, now it won't automatically change to fullscreen mode, you'll haft to stop it from running, and then start it up again so it'll display in fullscreen mode.

Opacity Mode:

You can now change your opacity of CamDesk, from it's default 100% all the way to 50%, which is half on 100 = 1/2 or .5% (100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, and 50%)

CamDesk is mainly for screencasts, and your PrtSc button, or PrintScreen button will take screenshots. However I did think of adding a way to record your desktop with CamDesk however that will take quite a lot of time. So what I'm working on now is once CamDesk is up and running, you can click and drag it, to move it. That update will be released in version 2.0.0.2. As far as the screen recorder built into it, I haven't decided if I wanted to do that or not yet.

You could use EasyMove for that process however, I don't want people needing another application to do it, I think it should be built into the app. However pulling the effect off is a little tricky, and may take quite awhile of time before I get it.

Here's the deal with CamDesk, there will most likely be a pro version which you'll haft to pay for. NO FREE TRAILS The pro version will have effects such as invert, ghost, avatars, picture frames, change contrast, brightness, etc: etc: However it will take some time, but will be done.

NOTE: The paid/payware version will be $10.

lol definitely. The only reason I decided to make a pro version is so I'll at least get some kind of income.

4/19/10:

The Properties dialog now has a custom GUI, an opacity slider has been added into properties, along with a checkbox where you can choose to have CamDesk Pinned or not.

As for CamDesk's right click menu, opacity was taken out, and replaced with the opacity slider in the properties dialog. Pinned and Unpinned was replaced with the checkbox, and the Fullscreen Mode is still enabled, it's on the top of the right click menu for CamDesk, and under the Fullscreen Mode, is Dimensions.

4/25/10:

CamDesk now has a drop shadow to it, however if you don't see it follow the tutorial below for your Windows OS.

Vista/7:

1. Open your Start Menu, and right click on Computer, then click Properties.

2. Click the Change Settings link

3. Click the Advanced Tab, then Settings

4. Now Check "Show Shadows Under Menus"

XP/Vista/7: Most likely will work with older, and later versions as well

1. Go to Start > Run and put down sysdm.cpl.

2. Click the Advanced Tab, then Settings

3. Now Check "Show Shadows Under Menus"

Now to move CamDesk, you now haft to press, and hold the CTRL key, then click and drag it, and it'll move.

Along with that CamDesk can now record audio, and save it as a .wav file.
